Richard,
I marked the canopy where I wanted to cut it, of course after measuring and looking at it 20 times. I then placed some wide tape along the area I wanted to cut. I could see through the tape to the canopy line so I transfered the line to the tape. I used a dremel tool with a cut-off wheel to cut the canopy. Support your hand well so the dremel cannot take-off on it's own. I cut along the line 3-4 times before it got pretty thin, then on the last go around would cut it through the canopy. I had no issues with cracking using the cut-off wheel. I used the tape mainly to have a buffer for in case the dremel got away from me and chattered across the tape instead of marring the canopy. Also don't forget to wear safety glasses and a tight fitting face mask as the process generates a lot of plastic dust.
Good luck,
Dave
Hi Richard.
Zenith advise not to cut the canopy with a cutter that has teeth!
This advice worked for me. I used an angle grinder with a thin cut off wheel fitted. Pull toward the tool - never push as it can grab a little. Also pick a warm day as the canopy is less brittle when its warm.
