Hello All,

I was wondering if anybody had thoughts on wether or not there would be a need for insurance on the aircraft while building? Or perhaps a special 'rider' on my homeowners policy in case of fire or burglery.

Thanks for you thoughts.

I found out hull not in motion insurance is incredibly expensive, and homeowners will not cover loss of aircraft parts, components, or the aircraft.

I got a builder's policy from Falcon Ins. while building mine. I recall it being around $400/yr. Your HO probably excludes it, mine did.

I guess there is no way of getting around it, I'll have to contact my homeowners insurance company and see what they say.  I'm already forced into having way more contents insurance than I need.  I'm kind of afraid to talk to them as they might assume I have some sort of industrial or hazardous  operation going on and hike my policy way up.  On another note, I do have a special 'rider' on my Kubota tractor (worth about $25k) that cost about $25/month to cover.  $25K coverage would be about what I would need until I get to the stage of engine and avionics.

I'm happy with Falcon through EAA fair price and they know what they are doing.
