Hello all I was informed by my inspector that I wouldn t need carb heat on an amateur build with the 912s if I could get a letter from rotax saying it was not needed and he said there are letters around ....does anyone have such letter?
He said it was mandatory but with that letter I would be OK by him?

Realizing it's not answering your question, but curious why anyone with a carb'd engine wouldn't want carb heat?
The air box as far as I understand was for an increase in hp but it would allow for carb heat if you wanted it .. Its not that I don t want carb heat I could put it on at anytime but my inspector is saying it is a regulation as an Amateur Build here in Canada and according to zenith its not needed. And he said if I could get a letter he's the one who told me they are around I wouldn t need it,Funny they know its not needed but want to cover their butts I guess, Even though I flew for 10yrs without it I understand it only takes once to ruin your day. The after market company's are just trying to make a buck selling their product. Im allowed to put the carb heat on anyway I want ....do it yourself and that will pass inspection so there is no fast rule on these carbs, I have some ideas of my own but want to get through my final inspection ASAP...and be safe.
Zenith/zenair does not endorse the carb heat on a ch701
Don t take this as a smart ass response but....Same reason why there are 4 tires on a car and not 6...its not necessary as far as Zenith is concerned they do not recommend carb heat and infact they have a letter on file saying it is not needed because of the placement high in the cowl...this is right from the aircraft designer ???
Maybe because the aircraft designer ,,,not me ,,,, said it was not necessary
