As anyone had any problems with prop clearance to the ground with a lycoming installed on the 750? Im still building mine and was curious. Im about to start building the fuselage now and was thinking. Ive ordered the tundra tires if that makes any difference. Thanks

What size is your nosewheel/tire?

My 750 STOL came to me with an 8.00-6 nose and 18x9.5-8 mains. Zenith since then has the smooth tread Tundra tire for  the mains that I think is 22" on a 6" dia. rim. I don't know what nose tire they are supplying with that option. A guy at my airport has the 22" tundra tires and what looks like the same nose tire with an O-235 and it sits a little nose down.

I am hoping to run a minimum of 74" dia. prop possibly up to 79" if I can work out the proper ground clearance.

I have seen a number of references of up to 2" thick spacers added between the strut and fork to raise the nose and extensions added to the nose fork. I am thinking about just making a whole new strut for mine that is at least 2" longer as a starting point.

I for one would love to know exactly what changes the new SD has to allow it to use an 82" prop. The main gear is different and the tires are much bigger but don't know by how much.

What ever the prop size, as I understand it you will want sufficient ground clearance with the nose strut fully compressed and the nose tire flat.

Here's a discussion that may help, I run a 76 in prop with my set up
