Hello,  I have just purchased 601ES and one of the first things I am looking for is a good quality canopy cover.  I have only found one supplier, Bruce's custom covers.  Unless someone has a better reference, I will order one from him.

Thank you,

Troy Ball

Troy,

Do you plan to be parked outside a lot?  If so, Bruce's regular canopy cover is an excellent choice.  If you are hangered and just plan to be outside occasionally, I recommend Bruce's flyaway cover.  It packs small and is lightweight.  That's what I use when I go to Oshkosh or the occasional overnight stop.  However, I just went to Bruce's web site and see that the flyaway cover is almost as expensive and his regular cover now.  I am certain that when I bought the flyaway cover, the first year he offered them about a decade ago, they were considerably lower in price compared to his regular cover.

When I am parked in my hanger, I only throw an old bed sheet over my canopy as a dust cover.

Dave,  I plan on keeping the airplane in a hanger most of the time, but I also plan on doing a lot of cross country.  Unless the weight of the full cover is excessive, I would feel better leaving the airplane at tie down locations with the better, heavier cover.  Bruce's it is.  I am picking up the airplane early next week  and the first thing I will do is measure for the cover.  I am at my winter home in Foley, AL and have no hanger here to keep it in.  With a hurricane due tomorrow, I can't get the airplane from the purchase location in SC until the weather passes by at both locations.

Thank you for your response.  I appreciate it.  Troy

Troy,

Are you at Foley Municipal? Joe Hopwood is at Collier Airpark, and I plan on going to see him (if time permits) during our Christmas trip to our daughter's in Pensacola.  I'd love to stop in an see your plane.

My wife doesn't trust the weather in that timeframe, so we'll probably be flying SWA.

Darrell, I am keeping the airplane in the short term at the Foley Municipal.  However, my wife requires that I spend the last two weeks of Dec. in Grand Junction.  I really do not know when I will take the airplane to Grand Junction (my hanger is located in Delta, CO).  I hate leaving it out in the weather, but might not have a choice.   If I am around, I would love to show you the airplane. Maybe do lunch or dinner.  Troy
