Hello, I need some "real" life experience.

My son (43 engineer) and I (70 com, CFI), both pilot, and life-long EAA members just purchased a 601 XL with the original Jabiru. 4 hours on the engine, and 0 on the frame.  It sat covered from 2008 on.  Included in this purchase is the "Flutter" factory kit.  For a diligent worker with fair experience and A&P support readily available, What's the real insulation time.

Thanks A  Bunch,  RG Tracy

I'd be concerned over whether the engine was pickled or not. Should probably talk to these guys since they're the US Jabiru engine distributors:

I didn't track my hours and the center spar was already done.  I was told 100 hours but I think it was maybe half that.  You are going to remove ~1000 rivets.  Get some automatic center punches and turn the tip into a straight sided punch to punch out the rivet stem.  Makes drilling out the rivets much easier.

You should be able to find a pin punch in the necessary size at your local hardware/home improvement store.

It was around 100 hours for me working alone.
