Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
Hi all,
I'm wondering what others are using for your prop pitch and what cruise speeds/climb rates you're seeing.
I have a 120hp Corvair with a Warp Drive 66" prop (10.0deg) in my 601xlb, and am seeing ~92knots cruise (at 2600rpm) and ~900 ft climb rate.
Thanks
Dale

Hi Peter,
I get about 5 gph at 89knots/2600rpm/7500agl
You?
Here is my data thus far, still in phase 1 testing:
WW 2850cc with Sensenich W64ZKL-35 (64x35, definitely a climb prop).
Full Static RPM - 2980RPM (12:1 AFR)
Flight Data 4740 Density Altitutde:
3200 RPM (WOT) - 87kt indicated 94 True
2880 (-10% RPM, 73% pwr) - 79kt/85kt
2560 (-20% RPM, 50% pwr) - 65kt/69kt
2950 RPM, 12:1 AFR (best power), I get 81-82 kts indicated, and ~6 gph. I do not have a fuel flow meter, so this was measured using one tank only at cruise with a timer. This will probably be my cruise rpm, but leaned to 13:1
I have a Cruzer with 21" mains and 8.00-6 on the nose.
"Definitely a climb prop"
So what was the "CLIMB?"
error in post
UPDATE:
Over the past 20 or so hours, the rings have have really seated and the engine definitely makes more power now:
I appreciate the update. What pitch were you using on the flight with the latest numbers? Charlie
Same prop as before: 64 diameter x 35 pitch.
Initial reports on the 64x37 sound like it definitely lowers RPM, but it doesn't climb as well.
