Does anyone have any experience with the Rotec ignition? One of my Jabiru coils failed and I decided to upgrade to the Rotec rather impulsively. Looking at the installation manual, it appears I may have to change my starting switch. The manual recommends activating the ignition AFTER cranking. I have the #1, #2, both, starter type switch. I'd be interested to know if anyone has been able to use that type of switch by simply turning one of the P Leads from ground to positive.

Finally figured a way to set up the ignition system. A "normal open" relay was hard on my battery. Just a day or two would deplete it. I ended up wiring "normal closed" and put the relay and power leads on the switched side of the main power relay. This means I won't have electronic ignition if I turn off the battery but I'm OK with that because the original #1 mag should get me home. BTW, I love the electronic ignition. It looks like something I could create from the local auto parts store except for the pickup mechanism. Now, if I could just get a spark advance system...........
SDS from CALGARY Canada makes a fully programmable ignition system for Jabiru. Check out their website.
