Next week, I’ll be removing my complete Gen 1 Jabiru firewall-forward package. The engine has 300 hours and continues to run well. I’ll be flying to Viking for a swap to the Viking 140T—a compelling option for budget-conscious builders seeking an affordable upgrade.

This Jabiru engine sat for several years prior to its first start in September 2018. It shows some corrosion, and Nick performed a valve job in September 2022. Leak-down compression values fall below the 60 PSI threshold listed in the manual, primarily due to cylinder corrosion. However, starter-spun compression readings are solid:

  • Cylinder #1: 147 PSI
  • Cylinder #2: 146 PSI
  • Cylinder #3: 159 PSI
  • Cylinder #4: 155 PSI
  • Cylinder #5: 151 PSI
  • Cylinder #6: 151 PSI

Master orifice reading was 38/80 PSI. According to several reputable A&P IAs, values above 38 are acceptable when not caused by valve issues and they were all well above that.

Available for best reasonable offer. This is a complete firewall-forward package with known history and solid performance—ideal for someone looking to build economically with full transparency.

I just swapped a Lycoming for the 140T. Did you get the fixed pitch prop or the in flight adjustable?

VIP. Bad weather to get here. Wind 29 knots with 9 knot crosswind component at X50. 45 knot crosswind coming from Ocala.

I don’t know if you listed on Barnstormers but my Lycoming and FWF sold within 48 hours.

Is this still available? Very interested in live in Dallas Ft Worth area.
Yes. It is in Edgewater, FL and can ship from there to you.

Hi Joe,

I too am (may be) interested. I am in Stuart, FL

Kurt,

Is this engine still hanging on an airframe where it can be run?

Kurt

No. Removed and replaced with a Viking 140T.
