Hi, I have a 601HD currently with a wood 68D50P paired with a C90-12F. I get about 90kts at 2250RPM cruise. Climb perforamce is about 900ft single. I'm happy with the performance of the prop. But i'm looking to get a warp drive 2 blade carbonfiber As i'm looking to fly around Australia and concerned with rain/ weather effecting the wood prop.
My qustions is, going to the carbon fiber will the same diameter be sufficent and setting the pitch as exsiting. Or as the blades are lighter go a bit longer?
TIA,
Ged.

Ged,
It has been a number of years since we had our 601HD. We had a Subaru EA81 with a 68" 3 blade Warp Drive prop, don't remember what the pitch angle was, but think it was around the 14 degree range. I pitched it to keep the rpm down to keep the engine from turning high rpm. We were only getting about 85 knots at 4200 rpm on ours, but we were not turning max rpm. Sold the 601HD about 10 years ago. I currently fly a Davis DA-2A with an O-200 and a Warp Drive 72" 3 blade prop. The C90-12F is essentially an O-200, and Warp Drive would not recommend a 2 blade prop for the O-200 due to the power pulse frequency coupled with the resonance on a 2 blade prop. They recommended the 3 blade prop instead. The Warp Drive is a good performer at a reasonable cost, although I do not know what the price differential is in Australia. But to answer your principle question, yes, a 68" prop diameter will work well.
