Hi Deane,

Congrats on your most impressive win!  I have a few questions on the Viking engine in your 701 that I am hoping you  can answer for me.  

1.  Is the engine too heavy for the 701?  Still able to fly aircraft with two aboard and fuel?

2.  Do you view it as a good alternative to the 912 or is it more suited for special, competition applications?

3.  How is the support from Viking?  Firewall forward kit available?

I realize Zenith strongly recommends the 912 but I am open to viable alternatives that offer good performance, reliability and reduced cost.

Hi Brian the flap handle is my own modification from a car hand brake I will add photos of the elevator mod later today and the flap mod what happened was the button that releases the handle popped off so I could not release I have now fixed this so it can't happen again and it was the first time in the 5 years that I have had the flap handle that it happened

Hi Deane,

Great job in the competition. I see you have a mod on the elevator. How did you hinge the outboard without the pin at the end? Love the tail skid looks like you can really bounce it without hitting rudder! You mentioned in the video your flap handle got stuck. Is it new or old type and what caused the jam?
