I am close to pulling the trigger on buying a 2008 AMD Zodiac 601 XLi with 50 hours on airframe and engine (O-200). The plane was in the Midwest from 2008 to 2020 and has been in Florida since 2020. The last time is flew was when it was moved to Florida. Nice plane but I am concerned about possible corrosion. Compression is in the high 70s.

Any advice on checking for corrosion? Borescope the cylinders, etc? Any other words of wisdom?

My oil temp is real high. I'm thinking of adding an oil cooler. Any ideas?

I've checked into the coolers on Aircraft Spruce. Pricey. Is any oil filter adapter for the oil cooler the best way to go? If you are able to call in the next few days, I can start to order parts.

Hi, Does anyone have any experience of the old continental 0-200A with I believe one of the first types of alternator, purchased the engine S/H from a 3rd party and it came with a type of rectifier I would associate with a dynamo rather than an alternator ,any help appreciated .

Regards,

Hi there, I’m hoping to pick up some advice on oil cooler installs for my recently purchased 801 powered by ECI io370. The cooler is a 7 fin exchange mounted in front of number 2 cylinder and clearly too small for the job. My thoughts are replacing the cooler with a larger unit in present location or mounting a 2nd unit on the firewall.
I would much appreciate any assistance from builder’s that have had the issue.

cheers

Good morning everyone !!!

This question goes to friends who are flying Continental O-200 engines equipped with ground adjustable propellers, such as Whirlwind and Sensenich:

Question 01) What static RPM are you applying ???

Question 02) What is the maximum RPM that you are receiving from the engine during the ascent ???

Thanks !!!

Hello guys !!!

With my CH-750, Continental O-200 engine, I have the propeller (Whirlwind GA-200-CN / 72') set to the following numbers:
1) With brake applied and full power: 2.500 RPM
2) Uphill, full power: 2.600 RPM
3) While cruising, I have been maintaining 2.500 RPM, achieving an indicated speed of 80 miles, without SLATS.

I would like to know your numbers.

Good afternoon people !!!

Has any O-200-A operator in the group already changed the cylinders to the most modern ones, making it possible to operate with 28º in the magnets ???

I'm also thinking of using pistons with higher compression, going from 7.0:1 to 8.5:1.

I appreciate any information.
