GNC Garmin 250XL

Are any of you familiar with the Garmin 250 XL Nav/Com? I want to update my data cartridge, but am getting nowhere fast. I was on live chat with garmin nd they sent me to Jepson web site. True they have a new cartridge for about a hundred dollars, but it is not programed. Any Ideas how I can update mine? It was lasted updated in 2003
