Hi all,
I found my engine appeared to be overspeeding in cruise on my first X Country. I checked prop pitch/angle and found it to be 16.4 degrees, a little off the 17 degrees recommended. I am not sure what static WOT was at this setting. Angle aside, the prop was (by standing back and looking at running engine) tracking true.
I reset prop to 20.4 degrees with a noticeable Ummf in pull at idle. WOT brakes set (plane will pull itself on grass) looks like 5200. Checking prop tracking per Whirlwind methodology finds one blade tracking 1/8´´ aft, and another 1/4 ‘’ aft assuming zero for first blade. According to WW/Hartzel no blade should track off from any other by more than 1/4 ´´. So prop is in spec. the way I read it.
Has anyone else got blades tracking closer by loosening and torquing mounting and clamping bolts again.
