I am new at this bloging thing so I hope I make sense.
In Aug 04 I attended the rudder workshop at Mexico and left with the empenage and have been buying sections of the kit as I complete others. I am now at the point where the electical has me I bit confused.
Does anyone have pictures of the wiring they have done at the firewall?
I'm a mechanical person and pictures really help me construct some ideas.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jack
Hi Jack; I bought my 701 so I cant help you much. My wife says I can only build with 8 in. spikes and a chain saw. It is a great plane. I also have a sonex but if I had to chose one it would be the 701. talk to you later Barney Creech
Hello John, the springs came from Mcmaster Carr. Part number is 4138T53. You have to specify the pressure you want when you order. I used 20 pounds and should have went with 30. I looked at the way others installed their springs and I installed mine in a way to help hold the door closed until you start to open it. I was concerned that If I would accidently hit the door handle the door would open in flight if I installed it like some others. I made acouple of brackets to strengthen the door and it allos the spring to break over center when you close and latch the door. Mcmaster has a web site of course, www.mcmaster.com

Hello, John. As it turned out I did noy get to go to the fly-in. When I changed plugs a week ago Thursday the bottom 4 stripped out. I was sick, and still am, to say the least. I could have put helicoils in them and got it back together but I just didn't see the risk as worth it. I ordered a new set of heads and will get it back together later this week if they come in. I took this time to fix some nagging oil leaks and intake issues that I was going to put off until bad weather so all is not lost.
Milton is definately within driving range. You could leave early and get back the same day or come and visit and stay overnight. Look on the Cincinnatti sectional chart for 12V, Ona airpark. It is west of the Charleston class c airspace. I would love to visit with you anytime. I am self employed so we could even visit through the week. 304-743-3182 is my office number, be sure and tell them what it is about or call 304-633-1492 which is my cell.

I see you signed you comment "Jack" so I'll try to make a note of it. Yes if you traveled by way of I 64 you passed within a mile of my house. How unfortunate you couldn't have gotten a hold of me sooner. I run a Vw with the Valley redrive. I hope to get it running later this week, stay tuned.
