Hi Scott,
My partner Gene and I would be very pleased to show you our 701 which right now at the proverbial 90% complete with 90% to go stage. Our airplane is at a hangar at the Blue Ridge Skyport (57GA) near Blue Ridge, Georgia.
As for instruction, we have another home builder and CFI, Lex Fisher, at our airport who has a recently completed Challenger II that he is interested in instructing in. I'm not sure how far a drive that is for you but that might work. As you get close to flying your aircraft I'd be happy to take you up in ours to show you how it handles (assuming ours is finished first). My direct email is miafreightdog@aol.com and my cel number is (706) 889-4903.
I'm out of town until June 25th but we can set something up after that if you'd like to visit.
visitors welcome when we are there which is usually Thurs Fri, Sat, 10 - 4PM. we are also there some other afternoons. A call to my cell phone would be a good idea. we go to lunch in the middle of the day. My cell is 865 805 3520.
HI Scott, I have only been working on the 750 for about 3 or 4 weeks so far but I have been impressed with how easy it can be to scratch build an airplane part. I really like the option on the 750 to use the 0-200 engine. and the thicker skins. I realize that this project will take several years but I really enjoy the building process itself. Also, my trip to see Mr. Carpenter's 750 impressed me and I made my mind up then to go with the 750.
Hi Scott. I am not sure of pesticides being used but I did find rodent droppings in my storage facility. Could rodent urine cause this? I know airplanes can get rodents nesting in them but you would think urine causing corrosion would have been questioned before.
Thanks to you as well for the welcome. To clarify (as I did to Bill) I just order my planes yesterday so it will be a while before I actually start. I will also be spending some time figuring out what this site is all about. Thanks again, will keep you (all) posted.
