Absolutely, we will try to meet up. I'm leaving in a few weeks for a China trip but will be back mid-October. That's when my build project gets underway full speed. I'll be keeping up with things and planning while I'm gone but looking forward to buckling down in October. I'll reach out when I'm back.

Do you fly yours down from Canada in the winter? I'll reach out when I'm back.

  • Ron Crook

    Wayne

I doubt I'll be at Sebring.  I visited the factory in October and saw the rudder workshop at Deland.  You are correct in saying it is a good idea to have the experts standing by to give advice when needed.

    Jim

  • James Ballenger

I hope to get to know the zenith crew as time goes on and as I get the build going.  I do plan on going to sun-n-fun as I should have a few questions zenith by then.

    Jim

  • Don Kingsley

Yes, it would be nice to meet, i have a hanger second row ,second in from the road. C8

Good looking plane you have. Don

  • Don Kingsley

Ted Cohen is in Fred’s hanger with Ron, i took the floats off Ted’s plane and put on jeep gear. He has it up for sale. I my hanger ,i took the floats off of Dave’s plane and put on jeep gear. My Vans is in there also that should be sold this week. I am looking for something else. Started fixing up a KIt fox but it will be a while before that is done.

    Don

  • Don Kingsley

Ted has a cirrus, 172 on floats, and the 701. He lives on Lake Simco. Ron and Ted are blood brothers

  • Don Kingsley

Ted’s 701 is in Fred’s hanger at CYOS, he brought it there for me to take the floats off. I live near there and was not going to drive to lake Simco to work on his plane.

I am in the midths of building a set of anphib floats that go on a Murphy Rebel that belongs to my neighbour at CYOS . That is a lot of work and would not do it again.  The Rebel is a nice plane.

i have no info on the other Zenith ptoducts.

  • Don Kingsley

they are Rebel floats, 1800 displacement. A good , strong float.

  • David J. Beaulieu

Wayne,  who knows why a cylinder develops a crack?  Unless you send it away for analysis to see if it was a material or manufacturing defect I would be guessing.  If I am going to guess I would say it may be "under" designed.  ULPower has increased the thickness of the flange and cylinder base since my early version of the engine.  As it stands now, I have replaced only that one cylinder with the newer version and will keep any eye on the others.

Congratulation on your new hangar...I'm envious!! Cheers and Merry Christmas...Dave

  • Ron Crook

Hello Wayne did you get a  chance to test fly the plane for the new season? Flew Teds 701 from owensound to edenvale yesterday..nice flying airplane. Flew mine last weekend and finally the radio seems to be working properly. we have to get together at some point Im ready for my climb test and file to get away from the airport tired of flying circles around for 25 miles...maybe you can fly up to owensound just call me first to see if Im up? Ron and Val

  • Thomas Knight

  • kevin huff

well I do not have the option of leaving the wife home so I will continue the search for an 750 or 801 finished or partial even some thing that might have had a repairable damage

  • Clyde Bailey

    Hi Wayne,

Thanks for the message. Your aircraft photos look great. Long way to go before I get to that point--one day at a time and my garage may sprout an airplane eventually.

  • Nelson Orta

    Hi Wayne!
Glad to join you, looking forward to meeting you when this thing blows over.

    Take care and stay safe,

    Nelson

  • Thomas Knight

Hello Wayne,  Hope you are well.

I've got a question.. What kind of rubber are you using in your spring clamp?(sandwiched between your spring and fuselage)

I was doing some touch and go's the other day and one side fell out! I'm wondering if I can just cut up an old rubber tire or a black rubber plumbing hose to use as the material (and tie it in with metal wire).

That being said, I'll replace the other side at the same time, so the next question is:

Where did you support your aircraft from when you lifted it?

    Cheers

    Tom

PS... I dont check this website too often. I do check my home email daily. Could you reply there : thehorselessknights@gmail.com

  • Lionel Richer

Hello Wayne, yes looking forward to meeting you as well, I have flown to Edenvale and Collingwood with my Challenger so I’m looking forward to do even more cross country flights with the 701.
  • Lionel Richer

Yes regarding the UPAC convention, it’s still on though stay tuned just in case.
  • Lionel Richer

I’ve flown to UPAC a few times but never been to see Colin. My home base is Grimsby, my private strip is very near Grimsby Airpark. I have sold the Challenger and I’m upgrading the 701 currently but once it’s done I’ll be flying around, I could set my sights on your airport or meet at another for one of those expensive hamburgers.
