I test flew the 601 while i was at the rudder workshop, it had a jabiru 3300 installed. The 601 flew quite a bit like the coupe. it was very responsive and smooth flying. It handled well at 100 and the 128 mph that was our cruise speed on the demo flight. the airplane was more comfortable than i expected. Like you i was looking for a light sport at the 130 + cruise, and the kit seemed to be a straight forward build. I talked to a number of people and all were satisfied with the factory support. I have worked on my coupe with the A&P that does my annual, but have never built one before so the support issues was a factor for me. I also have a friend that was building a 601XL... he has the fuse finished but had to go back and do the wing upgrade, he knew several others who built and were flying the 601 so he was a big influence on my decision. I guess the price also fell more in line with what i was confortable with and gave me things i was looking for in a plane. Main reason for giving up the coupe, is that mine is not light sport and i want the repairman certificate so i can do my own maintenance. Since i was flying a 2 place plane seemed like i might as well go light sport when i built, thinking that may be a good selling factor when the time comes i need to let it go.
Hi Fred, copy his email and compose a new msg and try to reach him that way. Some reason when you reply with Zenith message it does not like to used outside email address for some reason. I seen his 750 cruzer and paint job looks good with a roller.
