    Hi Richard!

That was just what I was looking for! Hope you don't mind if I take some of your ideas!

Some of the guys aren't even running with the recovery bottle. Some of the guys say they get a teaspoon of oil out every annual! I wonder if the bottle is even necessary? I suppose if you blow a piston in flight it would save you from washing the airplane! I'm just hanging the engine for the first time this week I will use some of your ideas. I think what I will do is one of 2 things. I will either leave the bottle off to give me more room, or I will mount it permanently and thread a drain screw on the bottom. If you ever come to Oshkosh look me up!

    Hi Richard,
How is your Zodiak project going? I am having a difficult time deciding on exactly which version to get. I was thinking 650 all the way, but as I was going through the photos on this site I noticed that some pictures featured a gull wing looking design. I had no idea about the 601 HD/HDS series until then. I am absolutely charmed to pieces with that design, the F4U Corsair being my favorite Warbird fighter and all.
From researching it seems the 601 HD is an old design with some performance flaws I guess. Canopy and landing gear trouble and poor plans. No matched drilling done etc.
Still, I am taken aback by the design. It has such character!
So I'm wondering if you've heard anything that you think I might need to know concerning that model, or what made you decide on your XL at the time.
    Thanks,
    Scott
