Rather than build the HDS wings which require more power and have a much higher stol speed (reduced climb rate)...the airspeed increase is not really there either. Install a better engine, a Rotax 912 80 hp will climb your HD 800 - 1200 fpm (dual/solo). The Rotax is a far more reliable engine. You should be able to pick up a used Katana motor in the $2500 - $3500 range.

The problem with used Rotax 912 80 hp engines is they usually get overhauled to make the Rotax 914 turbo 115hp engine for 1/2 the cost of a new rotax 914. Check with Bob Robertson of Light Engine Services for a used engine or new. He can at least connect you with someone in Sweden or area who might be able to help you out. Check the local flying schools that fly the older model Katanas.. powered by Rotax 912 engines. They may have an timed out engine...still good but "expired" for commercial use. Check with your local Rotax 912 dealer??? There are more Rotax 912 engines flying in Europe than in North America.
