HI Garth,
I installed VGs on the main wing and elevator underside. Started with the elevator, I now can keep the nosewheel up while landing. Before, as soon as the speed bled, the nosegear would abruptly hit the ground because of elevator loss of effectiveness. Now, I can keep the nosewheel off the ground almost to a stop. For the main wing VGs, you know when you throttle back the 701 slows down quickly almost as if you put on the brakes... Not anymore it is slowing down more like a C-150 and you dont have to keep power on descent. Before, I use to keep 1/3 throttle down to the ground, not anymore. I chop throttle to idle on final and descend normally... Too easy. I took the slats off for good (cut the supports even). It is still stol enough for me but I wont win the Alaskan bushplane event for sure... Who cares, I like it just the way it is... Also,I got 4-8 miles better top speed! I dont miss those slats not a single second....
Regards,
Norm
