Building and Flying Info / Your Profession / Other Background Info
I am a High School Mathematics teacher who loves to fly. I have helped build a Vans RV 9A until engine stage, at which point the school project was finished by a local builder and is flying it to this day. I am very excited to build this amazing plane and hope to fly it some day soon. Any builders of this plane in Central or South Eastern Alberta I would love to hear from for support and ideas.
Hi Bruce....Merry Christmas to you as well... yep come down anytime you'd like..... we'll go see the other three & if the weathers good we'll go for a ride in mine....give me a little warning when your planning to come so I can make sure I'm available.... you will not be sorry you chose this airplane... it's awesome!!! Guy.
Hi Bruce.... with 6061-t6 aluminum you shouldn't need any primer... it is an inherently corrosion resistant alloy.... on your rv9 you use it because the aluminum is 2024-t3... it has nickel in it & thus will corrode over time if not protected...all that said it doesn't hurt anything to prime the parts,(other than the extra weight) the grey primer you have is likely a self etching primer... it does work well but takes longer to dry & I've found etches less into the metal than does the zinc chromate.....just my .02$... I didn;t use any. Guy.
