- According to FAA registration and NTSB report avialable at https://app.ntsb.gov/pdf , N8681 was built in 2015 and in October of 2016 suffered the loss of its engine due to bad fuel/vapor lock resulting in a hard landing. Due to the hard landing and terrian the nose gear collapsed and the airplane came to a sudden stop. Damage was to the engine, fuselage, and left wing. I will take possession of the aircraft, minus the engine, in early January 2018, and hopefully begin repairs soon after.

Unfortunately, after looking at the damage, I have decided that I will need to completely disassemble the entire aircraft and start from scratch. There is a lot more damage now than the accident report said, but I think it is largely due to the recovery and multiple transports that this plane has been through. I probably would have gone with a complete tear down anyway, just because I don't know what all hidden damage there is from the crash, but this forces the issue. Anyway, I look forward to the challenge!
