Hi Bob,
Yesterday, I watched the video of your arrival at Browns Seaplane Base last year in your 701 and have a couple of questions if you you have a minute.
First, sorry to watch the "loss" of your cell phone. I trashed two here in an Alaska lake; both times from me falling off the floats (Edo 3430’s/Cessna 206) by not stepping on the float ropes properly.
My question is about the wire rigging I noticed on the video. There were four wires on the forward and the aft strut attachment points in a near vertical alignment. Two make an "X" and two make a "V" with the center of the spreader bar. The pattern is the same at both spreader bars.
Are these patterns recommended by Zenith/Zenair ? Also, I noticed there were no rods or wires horizontally connecting the lower four corners of the attach points for the spreader bars at the float attach fittings like my Cessna 206 installation. The drawings I have do not show the wire rigging; can you tell me which drawing shows the bracing wire rigging?
Also, I noticed that the nose gear is removed. I plan to do the same for my 750 when ready for float installation. How were the steering rods from the rudder pedals dealt with; were springs or bungees added ?
Thanks in advance when you get a chance.
