Zenith Aircraft at the 2019 DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase: Workshops, Kit Building Demonstrations, STOL Flying, and more!

Join us in sunny Florida for the 2019 DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase on November 14 - 16, 2019

Following up on the success of last year's Zenith workshops at the DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase in central Florida (between Orlando and Daytona Beach) we are pleased to return with Zenith workshops at this year's event.

Starting on Thursday morning, November 14, Zenith staff and volunteers will provide an overview of the fuselage / cabin assembly of the all-metal STOL CH 750 Super Duty aircraft kit, putting together the entire fuselage to demonstrate the ease of assembly made possible with final hole size match-drilled assemblies. Visitors are invited to observe and participate in the fuselage assembly demonstration, learning about assembly techniques and required tools and skills. Both experienced and new Zenith builders are encouraged to participate, and to check out the latest Zenith kit features!

The hands-on Zenith workshops are aimed at the first-time airplane builder and are popular with sport aviation enthusiasts who are considering to build their own aircraft, but are not sure if they have the required skills, work-space and tools. The rudder build workshop begins on Friday (November 15) and runs until Saturday morning (November 16), each participant builds and assembles a Zenith Aircraft rudder tail section from a standard kit.

Workshop participants tackle many activities including learning how to read drawings (blueprints) and work from assembly instructions (manuals). They learn the procedures for putting together an aircraft assembly, including drilling, de-burring and blind riveting. As part of the building process participants cut, file and fit the aluminum alloy (sheet metal) parts. In the end, they have an assembled rudder that is ready to install on a Zenith kit airplane.

There is no cost for the actual workshop, but participants are required to purchase the rudder kit that they will assemble at the workshop. The assembly tools will be provided. The two-day hands-on workshop is an excellent way to learn about building your own amateur-built aircraft and about the many advantages of owning and flying an airplane that you've built yourself. Kit aircraft is a segment of aviation that is growing while the rest of the aviation industry continues to decline. For many, building an aircraft (from a kit) is a very rewarding experience, and today's modern kits make it easier and quicker to build than even before.

The cost of the rudder tail kit is $375 - $425 (depending on the Zenith model). Additional helpers can participate for free. To learn more about the workshop program visit zenithair.com, and visit the DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase website for details about the event in DeLand, Florida, November 14 - 16, 2019. Click here to sign up for the workshop. Workshop space is limited, and prior registration is required. Call Zenith for details or with questions.

Plan now to go to the DeLand Sport Aviation Expo, and learn all about building and flying your own airplane! This trip makes an excellent getaway for you and your spouse or a friend. Spend a couple of productive days learning to build the rudder, meet with fellow aviation enthusiasts, and visit the Sport Aviation Showcase in sunny Florida!

Also at the DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase:

NEW THIS YEAR at the 2019 DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase is a STOL EXHIBITION!
What's that? Simple... it's a daily STOL “Demonstration” of each aircraft’s capabilities as Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) aircraft. Mind you, this is NOT a competition… but don’t tell the aircraft (or their pilots) that!

Jon Humberd plans to fly his "Super 701" (a Zenith STOL CH 701 with a 130-hp UL Power engine) in the STOL Exhibition, as well as Jan Eggenfellner with his Viking (Honda) turbo powered STOL CH 750 Super Duty:

Also:

Come by the Zenith Aircraft booth and workshop tent to meet with Amy and Herman Eshuis of Wheels and Wings, which offers professional builder assistance to Zenith builders in Edgewater, Florida (just a few miles from DeLand).

While most Zenith builders don't need outside professional assistance to assemble their own aircraft, for some it is a valuable service to help them realize their dream of building and flying their very own airplane! Whether you don't have the space or the time to build, or if your existing project is stalled, Herman of Wheels & Wings may be able to help you. Call Herman at 386-690-4239 to discuss your project.

Educational Forum Seminar at Sebring:

Sebastien Heintz, Zenith Aircraft president, will present a forum "Building Your Own Aircraft" (9:30 am, Thursday, November 14, and 9:30 am, Saturday, November 16), where he will discuss the needed skills and tools as well as required budget and time for building an airplane from a modern kit. The kit aircraft industry is where you'll find the most innovative light aircraft designs offered anywhere, at prices that make owning and flying your own new aircraft a reality. New kits are much quicker and easier to build than ever before, and give the builder (and pilot) access to the latest engine and avionics technology. Your kit airplane project becomes a reflection of you as you custom build your own airplane with the equipment and features that you choose, such as avionics (instrument panel), engine, paint job, etc. You have access to the latest technology (engine and avionics) or you can also choose to install only a basic (yet very proven) engine (such as the 100-hp Continental O-200) and traditional steam gauges. Once complete, you will have a brand new custom-built aircraft, with the freedom to do your own maintenance and inspections. For recreational pilots, learning to fly (and continuing to fly) is now much easier with the Sport Pilot license or BasicMed.

Existing Zenith builders and flyers are also encouraged to attend the DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase, and to fly-in with their finished Zenith aircraft projects.

Come by and visit with Zenith staff, see the planes, lend a helping hand at the workshop tent. Let us know if your flying in with your Zenith - we'll try to put your plane on display!

William Wynne will be presenting a one-day "Corvair College" at the DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase on Thursday, November 14, 2019. Corvair auto engines are popular with many Zenith builders who convert their own engine using Wynne's instructions:
