2018 UPDATE: See the follow up photos and videos in the comments below this original story.

Zenith builders and pilots are made up of a very interesting group of individuals, and continue to be a source of inspiration.  Here's a brief story of one of them that was recently featured in the news:

In his eighties, Guy Savoie is building his own Zenith STOL CH 750 airplane from a kit.  A retired surgeon, he says that as a doctor he took care to suture his patients as if their life depended on every stitch, and that now as an amateur builder he takes care in assembling the kit as if his life depends on every rivet.

Guy was recently interviewed about his kit airplane project on CBC Radio-Canada (View the full length interview in French), and also on TVA Nouvelles, a Canadian leader in French language news (View the interview in French)

Guy lives in Edmundston, New Brunswick (Canada) and has been flying since 1967 and taught his son to fly (who is now an Air Canada airline pilot).  He later became the leading flight surgeon for Transport Canada.  Now retired and in his eighties, Guy is also an active stage actor in a theater troupe.

Guy plans to complete and fly his Zenith this summer.

CONGATULATIONS!!!

You have joined the never too late club. Now it's time to put that bird on skis (Datum skis), since the winter gives the best to the flying experience. EH !?

Congratulations Guy, Great achievement. I am from NB and my wife grew up in St. Basile just east of Edmundston.

At 56 I was wondering if I was too old for such a plane building adventure; guess not, "with a bit of  luck".

Congratulation Guy!  Any relation to Simon who was from Edmundston? I grew up on the border across the St John river.  Just got mine flying - maybe we can get together once I get out of Test Phase?  Congratulation!!

Update:

"My Zenith STOL CH 750 finally flew for the first time on November 7, 2017... The first flight was done at zero degree Celsius. It flies very well...Many thanks to you, Roger, and the others who helped me along the way over the last few years."
