Hi 750 Builders,

I was placing my actuator arm on it's bracket and noticed the travel on the mixer control was about 1.5 inches with the stops. The travel on the actuator is 2 inches. Am I messing something up or missing something?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Hi Jeff,

There aren't any stops on the mixer control. A common mistake is to mount the mixer bearing supports upside-down - it's assumed that the bolts will act as stops for the tab that sticks up - but that is NOT correct. There is a thread elsewhere in this forum that discusses this. The tab is just there to position the mixer arm laterally. I very fortunately noted mine were upside-down before it was too late! When properly mounted, the bolts clear the tab and don't act as stops.

Caleb explained to me the flap motor has internal limit switches to control its travel ... it doesn't need stops or doesn't "stall out" at the end of travel.

P.S. - I "think" the upside-down problem got started with it being depicted erroneously in the "HomeBuiltHelp DVD". I just checked the plans and they are correct!

Hi John,

Yes mine we're upside down and yes the DVD is or was the reason. He even explains the stop being the bolts and installs them upside down. Seems he may want to do some editing/revisions to his DVD. Anyway it's an easy fix as mine are still clecoed on.

Yes I live on the south end of T-Top airfield in Eagleville TN TN14. Just about 35 miles south of Nashville. I have built and fly a Europa tri-gear. Have about 300 hours on it.  Once the 750's flying I'll probably sell one. Nice to hear your close. Maybe one day I'll drop in and you do the same. 123.50 and runways are 2 & 20 here.

Hi guys, I'm glad that I saw this post and the responses. I am at this stage as well and about to install according to the Homebuilthelp video. This is a good reminder for me to live by the plans, not the video.

Jeff,

One other item on the HBH vids to be aware of is this: On the wing trailing edge install, HBH pulls a 70 mm measurment from the wrong point off the flaperon arm. If you do it that way, you will have to drill out all the rivets & re-set the trailing edge. Check your plans and assembly guide when you get there, and verify the correct point to pull the 70 mm measurement from.

It's possible this may have been edited by HBH since this problem first came up a while back, but be sure to check.
