I have a VIRB on order. I'll post updates on my experiences with it.

I've used the Contour camera and Go Pro, both with success and I look forward to trying out the Virb.

John Marzulli has shared good info on using various cameras.

More info on using video cameras (past posts)

I'm using the GoPro.  I just purchased a Chinese GoPro knock off for $75.  Just starting to play with it.  One advantage the VIRB has is that it will save a GPS tracking file so that you can put ground speed, altitude, etc. on your videos.  I have to use an app for my smartphone to capture that data.

Jerry,

What is the app you are using on your smartphone ?

I've had a GoPro Hero 3 for almost 2 years now and have used it only once. I have purchased a lot of options and hope to really start using it more often starting next week. I just completed installing a mod demonstrated on the video (link below), which is to fix shutter strobe on the propeller. The camera on the video is a little different than what I have, but the mod worked OK.

Update - If anyone is considering the GoPro mod described in the video, instead of a step ring 25.5 mm to 46 mm, get a 30.5 mm to 46 mm instead. The newer GoPro needs the slightly larger center hole. You can get the step up rings for $5 at:

I have a virb that I really like. I haven't spent as much time as I would like with the editing but it is very easy to use.

Here is my youtube page  if you want to check some videos out in my CH 750 and 172

Just bought the waterproof case so I can dive with it as well.

Here is a link to my youtube channel.  My early videos were made using a FLIP camera.  Not sure you can still buy them.  All other videos were done with a GoPro 2,3 or 3+.

I have a GoPro 3+ and have used it with some success in my Champ.  I did go with the neutral density filter mod to reduce some of the prop effect and it helped.

I use my iPad to control it wirelessly which works well.  I only wish the batteries lasted longer.

Tim,

I was just looking at this web site which may solve the battery problem :
