Have to get lighter springs the throttle locked off and still creeps to full???
Tags:
I had this problem with my Rotax 912ULS and swapped out the springs for the lighter version. It still creeps in but not enough that it can't be held by the throttle lock, or by my puny muscles. The original springs left me sore having to fight with it at all rpms.
What do you guys mean by "throttle lock"? When I first bought my plane the left seat had a throttle with a locking button on the end. It didn't move once set. Unfortunately that arrangement locks out the right seat throttle and since I was taking lessons my instructor told me to get it changed before my flight exam. I eventually had it replaced by a "friction" locking cable. It creeps a bit but is manageable.
Don’t change the throttle springs Ron.
Read the report on Jon Croke’s crash first.
I can’t find it just now, but search the 701 forum for ‘throttle springs’ and see what comes up. You could probably contact Jon directly for info. As I recall, he installed weaker springs and during a go around he didn’t get full power and stalled into a forest, end of airplane.
So far haven t figured out why its pulling so hard ...my last plane a ch701 had rods instead of cables to the throttle linkage and worked great and stayed where it was positioned and never had return springs on the carbs at all and another friend whoi is a builder of 701s can t figure it out yet. I will be working on it this week and hope to get in a few hrs of flying and build some hrs so I can do my climb test and get moving on ...I appreciate all the comments and thoughts on this ...Ron
