Got the fuel finally plumbed and the coolant filled, started and ran after cranking a bit to purge the air.
With the lowest idle setting it was still running at 2200+ without the prop on. What should the idle be at minimum throttle?
Also the exhaust headers paint was smoking, is this a break in thing?

Everything you've described sounds normal from our experience. Our engine idle was also much higher without the prop installed, but we were able to get it down to around 1000 rpm by temporarily moving the idle stop mount bracket, but our idle adjustment setup may be different than yours. Minimum idle when prop is on will be around 1,600 rpm to reduce gearbox chatter.
Sure is nice to see friends helping friends. Thank you
That is about what I saw with my 130. The smoking should go away with use. Even with the prop on, the RPMs were high compared to the expectations from the videos. I ended up fabricating a replacement throttle stop to get it down to 800-1000 RPM. Jan seemed to approve when I sent him pics. I'm in phase 1 now. Dialing in the prop pitch so I don't exceed red-line with full throttle.
it is super nice to see you in phase 1. I remember when we met here:
