Cargo Tie-Down Rings
After reading Jim McGauhey's blog about his encounter with turbulence and canopy damage due to unsecured cargo, I have resolved to install tie-down rings in the baggage area of my STOL 750! Although I don't have a canopy to potentially damage, I do have windows, a windscreen, and most importantly, my head!
However, when I looked for reasonably-small tie-down rings ("reasonably small" in that I'm limited to only securing about 40 lbs. of cargo in my STOL 750), it seems the smaller the ring, the more difficult it is to find an "aviation quality" tie-down ring - and preferably, one that is recessed when not in use.
I did find these tie-down rings on Amazon which are interesting - when not in use, you can easily remove the ring entirely, leaving only the low-profile mount.
Any recommendations, sources, photos, etc. for a quality, lightweight tie-down ring?

Interesting - McMaster-Carr has a low-profile aluminum tie-down base identical to the one on Amazon. However, McMaster-Carr wants more $$ for one (1) base than Amazon charges for a complete set of 4 bases with the removable rings included, too!!!

Amazon link: 4 Pack Round Anchor Point Tie Down Kit (Set of 4 with bases and stainless rings, $20.88 with Prime delivery included)
McMaster-Carr appears to have the identical item, #39695T35 for the base and #39695T51 for the ring, however, the ring is zinc-plated steel and not stainless. A set of 4 bases and rings would be about $100 and they don't include the reinforcing plates or mounting hardware!

It is not quite what you are asking about, but my solution was to install tie down points during the build process. It was a fairly cheap way to add anchor points in the baggage compartment. Here is a link to the pictures Baggage tie down

Ordinary "pull" door handles would work, similar to these, perhaps with an aluminum backing plate.
Or, for those of us with BRS installations, the rear bridle brackets are already right there.

Footman loops (with a backing plate) and a webbing loop are another option. The webbing loops can be customized, easily removed and easy to thread or hook with tie down lines.
