Hi, Can anyone tell me what the torque specs are on the Spark Plugs in the Rotax 912 UL 80 hp? You would think I could get this information right off the Rotax web site but if it is there it is well hidden? I cant find this info anywhere that I look only that I need to make sure that I torque them the the manufactures specks?? Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can give me on this mystery.. Tim

Thanks Bob, seems you and Joe's numbers are a little different ? or maybe not maybe 20 ft lbs is the same as 142 inch pounds? anyway Joe has told me where to find the info on the Rotax site so I will check it out.. You guys are great thanks for the help..
Yeah, there is lots of information for Rotax's so finding the location for specific info can take a while until you get familiar using Rotax's website. In this case, you can find this torque spec and procedure in the latest Line Maintenance Manual in section 12-20-00 page 59. It calls for a torque spec of 16Nm or 142 in-lb on a cold engine installed with a small amount of heat compound (thermal paste). You can find all the manuals free on-line at www.flyrotax.com Hope this helps. Joe
Thanks Very much Joe !! this was very heplfull !! I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction and it appears you did exactly that..
Both Bob and Joe are correct. The Line Maintenance Manual was just updated and the spark plug torque spec changed significantly. https://www.rotax-owner.com/en/912-914-technical-questions/7841-new.... And speaking of spark plugs now that a set of plugs will set us back almost $300 I also started this thread challenging why Rotax warns against swapping plugs around https://www.rotax-owner.com/en/general-tech-discussion/7850-swappin...
I don't know what it is in American but in Metric it is at 20Nm Every 200 hours the plugs need to be changed. Also watch when gapping the plugs (. .023 to .027) to not damage the center ceramic insulator.
