Today I needed a small quantity of 4130 .080 sheet. After trying one
place I started letting my fingers do the walking on the phone with
the local suppliers. After three calls to different suppliers, who
referred me to the next supplier, the final one gave me this URL
https://www.onlinemetals.com and said "that's all they do, small stuff
and ship it out quick and reasonable"

Well I tried em today and if the order comes in as specified it is
fairly reasonable. Definitely convenient, just got to the site, find
what you want and give special cutting instructions. My order was for
2pc .080 3" x 12" $25.92 total cost to my door. I'll let you know
when it gets here.

I did notice OnlineMetals.com is a ThyssenKrupp Materials, NA
Company. My experience with ThyssenKrupp Materials has always been
good.

Ron, let us know how your experience with OnlineMetals.com goes.
Scratch builders are always asking us for sources for basic materials. Important considerations include stock (do they stock what you need?) and shipping (which can often cost more than the actual materials).
Here is a reply I got from one of the other lists:

By Far, the best place for any aircraft related metals and related general
hardware is
Dillsburg Aeroplane Works, Dillsburg PA.
They have been operating out of a large barn for more than thirty years and
have the largest supply of materials that one could imagine.
No, they do not have a website and the owner, Mr.Charles Vogelsong told me
that he has no use or interest in using the internet.
His prices are the best around , as they buy in large quantities and he will
cut and ship within one day. They will mail you a full inventory and price
list upon request. I have used him now for two homebuilts, and they are
great to deal with.
You can reach them at (717) 432 4589

Not an online service but if you a re making a list, this would be a good add.
I have made multiple orders from onlinemetals.com of 6061 aluminum for my project. Every time they have done an excellent job. They are especially good for aluminum angle and some of the thicker plate. Last I checked, they did not sell the large 4x12 aluminum sheets, though.
Got the material I ordered and it was cut correctly and square. All I did was lay it out and cut, welding will be tomorrow.

I have a ThyssenKrupp distribution warehouse near me and I'm able to go there and pick up full size sheets. I just take some clamps and a tape gun, roll the sheets up, clamp and tape on their dock then just set them in my van to cart em home. That really saves on the shipping costs but they will deliver.
Another source is Metal Supermarket. I don't know how many locations they have but there is one within driving distance for me.
