Hands-On Workshop Class returns to Howell, Michigan

Zenith’s popular hands-on workshop class is coming back to Michigan in October 2026!
The October workshop will be held in central Michigan, starting on Friday, October 9th, hosted by local Zenith builder/pilot Steve Aupperle (who flies a Zenith STOL CH 750), and by local EAA Chapter 1056, with a Saturday morning (October 10) informal Zenith fly-in and gathering.
During the workshop each participant builds and assembles their own Zenith aircraft rudder tail section from a standard Zenith kit, typically completed at the end of the first day. Space is limited so register early to secure your spot.

If you’ve always dreamed of building your own airplane, but aren’t sure that you have the required skills, Zenith Aircraft Company will provide you with the opportunity to learn all about building your own Zenith Aircraft kit at one of its workshops, where you can actually start building your own airplane. With an emphasis on gaining hands-on building experience, the informal workshops are coordinated by Zenith Aircraft staff.

The October 2026 workshop will be held in central Michigan, at the Livingston County Airport (KOZW) in Howell, about 55 miles west of Detroit. The event is being organized by local Zenith builder/pilot Steve Aupperle, who flies a Zenith STOL CH 750 powered by a Viking (Honda) engine, and by local EAA Chapter 1056. This event is also being supported by Martina and Oliver Reik (Zenith CH 750 Cruzers pilots), owners of Midwest Flying Machines, a professional builder assistance center located west of Detroit.

The hands-on workshop class will start on Friday morning, October 9th, inside a private hangar at Livingston County airport and will conclude the following day. Zenith will also host an informal regional fly-in gathering for Zenith aircraft owners, flyers and enthusiasts on Saturday (October 10th).

All Zeniths are invited to fly in for the activities, and enthusiasts and current builders are invited to drive in to attend. Motorhome / camper parking at the event is permissible. Zenith staff will be driving their Sprinter van to Michigan for the workshop, and will be available to deliver kits and parts along the way (with prior arrangement).

Plan now to join us at the October workshop class in Michigan, or at another monthly workshop class at the Zenith factory. The workshops have become popular with sport aviation enthusiasts, giving them the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in building their own Zenith Aircraft kit plane.
