Building and Flying Info / Your Profession / Other Background Info
purchased partially completed 601xl wings and tail from jack nelson. Purchased CH650 fuselage kit to complete the airplane. Aircraft is registered with tail #N5880Z as of 15 April 2010.
In looking at some of your photos, it appears that you added some heat shield material to the engine side of the firewall. I just completed the firewall on my CH 650. Can you tell me what material you used and where you got it?
Thank you, Shayne. I am amazed so few builders ever consider do this. Good luck with your project. Mine is only 40% done, just getting ready to build the wings. At least I didn't have to tear mine apart.
BTW, did you paint your plane yourself? If so, what did you use? Did you paint before or after assembly?
Shayne & Phyllis
I was down and visited with you all - and you were very accomidating on showing me your beautiful CH-650, You even let me set in the left seat. Phyllis run the Corvair engine. I was very impressed. I have just bought from Zenith a Quick Build CH-601 XL and trucked it down to my hangar #9 at 18MO near Ozark, MO. I'm in the process of selling my Long-EZ.
How is your knee doing? How is your flight test progressing?
