Thank you for accepting my friend request. It appears that you are well into your 701 build. As you can see, I am just beginning. I have the rudder and horizontal stabilizer built and am now working on the elevator. This airplane is WAY easier than anything I have attempted to build in the past!
As to living in a hangar, there are pros and cons. Having the project a few steps away is great, but there are only 4 of us on the airstrip that fly and there is very little interaction. We built our hangar for about what one would pay for a good backyard shop. You mention that you are looking for a few acres to build on...there are 2 hangars for sale here and still quite a bit of property available. There is not a lot of activity here so property is quite inexpensive. I'm not trying to sell anything...just thought I would mention it.
My wife and I are retired and are usually around so feel free to come up for a visit at anytime. Our airstrip is 3000x75 and is turf. We are about 7 miles northeast of Nocona and the airsstrip is marked as "U"...unverified.
