Clay,
Doesn't look like I"ll make Open Hangar day. I am close to flying and want to spend both days working.

Clay,
Glad to hear from you. No, not flying, I went back to work at the beginning of May to help out the first school district I ever served as supt. It is about 9 miles south of here and was always my favorite job. They had a problem and lost their supt. and asked that I finish the year and find them a replacement. I've enjoyed being there, lots of old friends, etc. I'm picking up my last kit parts on July 1st! I'll just miss you. One of my flying buddies just got back from a year in Iraq and he and his wife and my wife and I have rented a house on Lake Winnebago for the Oshkosh show and I'm looking forward to buying an engine and some avionics.

Clay,
Glad to see that you got the rudder done and I'm sure you will have a great time doing the rest. I was out to the hangar this afternoon after being gone for 10 days and will be starting the wings tonight.

Got back from the rudder workshop Friday night and had a GREAT time. It was a fantastic experience. The guys, Sebastien, Roger and Caleb, are a lot of fun to work with and they are brimming with helpful tips. Well worth the 4 hours drive to and from the shop. They made the build about as easy as it could have possible been and I learned a lot.

Hi Clay,

Thanks for the "invite"

I see you are just starting - I am at the other end of the "mission" and looking forward to getting airborne sometime this year - depending on how much uninterrupted time I can get at home this year.

The new 750 kits look great - much more complete and pre-drilled, should be much quicker to build than the 701 kit I purchased (ex Czech Airworks) over four years ago. I am not a fast worker - its all new to me, and I go away a lot and find that it takes me a while to get my mind back on the job fully when I am back (after catching up on the other chores that usually seem to take precedence).

I was thinking it would now be much easier to send it all into the paint shop and then get an engineer to get the engine going etc and I could be up and away in a couple of months - but then it wouldn't be entirely "home built" would it!

Good luck

Clay,
My only week in Feb. is the 13th and 14th! You are most welcome then, or on any Friday night. I have a granddaughter being baptized on the 6th and we are off to Myrtle Beach for golf on the 18th and not back until March 1. Retirement is hell. Of course, any weekday night is fine and we are only about a hour and a half from Wilton.

Clay,
You are most welcome to visit, just call ahead to make sure I'm here working. As for OSH and a tower visit, I'd be in like a porch climber! I usually go for the first few days because of camping being an issue if you get there late.

As for the Scotch Brite wheels, I have not found a source outside of OSH, but am going to Davenport this weekend to look at Harbor Freight. I don't believe these have any metal in them that would be an issue for corrosion. I've seen no signs.
