Fueling Trailer
After hauling 6 gallon gas cans up a ladder to pour fuel in the CH750, and spilling each time, I decided there must be a better way. Since I plan to keep this airplane for a very long time - I built a refueling trailer with a 12 volt pump, flow meter, grounding cable, filter, 55 gallon aluminum DOT refueling tank, and mounted it all on a trailer that I can tow to get fuel at the local gas station. It is easy to roll around, I do all the fueling outside of the hanger. It works very well, easy to fuel and no spillage.

Same here, Rick. I went to a salvage yard and found a 150 gal aluminum tank from a wrecked 18-wheeler, had it cleaned, then mounted it on a trailer with pump, meter, filter, etc. Later, I needed even more fuel capacity (had a 206 burning 15 gph!) for top-offs, so I went to my local farmer's cooperative and bought a new 250 gal steel skid tank (they come steam-cleaned and sealed) and built a new trailer. The old trailer now holds diesel for my tractors and the new one fuels my 750/Jab 3300 with 93 oct unleaded/no ethanol.

In installing a 100 gal. tank a few yrs. back, on a 6' 6" W x12'L single axle trailer, I had it steam-cleaned out as well. I use static lined fuel hose. I welded two rods, w/ dished out tops @ each end to wrap the fuel hose back & forth 2x. The static line is app. 10 ga. auto. wire, w/ alligator clip jaws. The trailer needs to be grounded also- I ran a wird from the corner bolt to a trailer frame attach pt, More important, in this PM, is I cut a hole in the trailer floor-welding a 90 degree low tank attach pt. near the floor, w/a 90 degree valve & bottom of 90 exiting through floor opening. This allows for a low tank valve - water, etc. check pt. Also, I attached a Grimm's fuel filter-in line, coming off the top, @ a vertical angle. Due to the close proximity, I had to thread a pipe extension off the top, in order for the filter to drop off past the top corner of the tank. As the 601XLB is easy to fuel, I drive the trailer up to my other high wing E.A.B., stand on the trailer floor to fuel, saving a ladder.

Addendum to previous post, per the tank on the trailer. It is powered via a standard silver 6 prong trailer plug, inserts near hitch. Use the 7:6 larger adapter when driving my trucks. Power available, no matter what vehicles used.N601SE
