In February 2009, six of us friends started cooperatively plans building 6 CH750s. I finished mine on June 11, 2016 and made the first flight on June 26, 2016. It is the 4th one of the six to be completed.

Hey Joey, wanna be my friend? Looks like 4 out of the 6 liars have finally made it on here. Can only mean trouble........
  • Travis Corbin

Against my better judgement, Batman says I should be your friend! ~FLiar 3
  • Dave Van Dyke

Hi Joseph. Whats that on your wall? Looks like it needs a good cleaning. FLiar 7
  • Lawrence Van Egmond

I won't even comment on that.
  • Steven Ward

Hi Joe, you said that you've had problems with the horz stab nose ribs, I have all the parts done for the stab but the spars. If all of you had the same prob, I guess I will too when I assemble the stab. Thanks for the heads up.
  • Lawrence Van Egmond

Hi. Joe. Can I be your friend to?
  • Leo Arrigo

Just wondering if when you are priming, are you priming just the mating surfaces or all of the internal componants covered by the skin. A friend of mine who is building a 701 sais that the mdra inspection requires it..Do you know or have you heard that this is true.
  • Leo Arrigo

    Hi joe,

I have heard that the inspector in this area likes to see all surfaces primed so I think that is the path I am going to take.. Should'nt add too much weight.

Thanks for getting back to me..

    Leo

Hey Joe thanks for the friend invite. It is going to ba a challange to scratch build, but I am up for it.
  • phillip maples

Joe, it was so obvious once you pointed it out. i don't think Big Brother has a sense of humor.
    thanks, phillip
  • phillip maples

we can be friends but no levity....thanks
  • Ken Ryan

Yes the header tank with the warning light is a good idea. When that light goes off you know exactly how much fuel is left. FYI a friend who has built two RVs says they have the same setup ... one fuel pickup at the rear. Ken
  • Joe Spencer

Hi Joe. thx for the friend request. sure, that's good.

the 701 is an interesting little plane...it's ripe for experimenting on improvements. and no matter it's faults, there's nothing else out there that i'm aware of that will get in and out like it will

    thx again

    Hey Joe
How goes the battle we've finished the wings 6 and tail feathers for all three planes... One aft fuselage is done and were going to stay with this one to completion. I hope your group is makeing progress

Are you guys fabricating the cages or are you buying them from Zenith?  Did you have any issues with mating the cage to the built up frame?  There is a plans builder in the forum section that had trouble getting everything lined up with the cage.

The Fuses look great.  A real milestone.

Joe,  I am not trying to talk you out of buying my engine, but If you just need top end work on your engine you may be better off buying cylinders for your engine.  If you have bottom end troubles you will probably come out better buying a good serviceable engine.  If you bought mine you could use it as is and use the extra parts to overhaul your engine.  Then you would have a spare, or you could sell one of them and recoup some cost.  Let me know.  Mike H.

If you are driving to Sun N Fun I am about three miles off of I-95 in Pooler Ga.

Thank you , Joe. There seems to be some number of Canadians I should visit and justify the air ticket from Bangkok!
Last September, I visited a friend in New Zealand. He kept his 701 in his back yard hangar and could taxi right on to the grass runway. Great set up!

Keep the trip report coming. It's enjoyable. I build mine alone and make slow progress. Go see and fly other airplanes every once in a while help keep the build going.

Hi Joe, Expected to see you at SNF!

  • Robert Seaton

how about a 912iS training course June 26-27?

  • Tracy Smith

Thanks Joe, I have several years of two stroke experience with the 503 engine and am very versed in the tuning and maintenance. I honestly think that they are as dependable if not more than a certified four stroke if kept maintained properly,as I have seen my fair share of certified engines have trouble achieving 500 trouble free hours! I am happily content in my decision with the 582 install, and think it will perform quite decently in the 701. I say Thanks to You and Walt for the words of agreement with the two stroke engine!
  • Guy RUBIO

Hi Joe , thank you for your compliments that make me happy , I'm sorry too, I do not speak English,
    Best regards

  • Bruce Peers

Thanks for the friend request Joe....I would love to come down and visit you guys some time....to see the three you have flying and to see your works in progress.....looks like an awesome group of dedicated Zeinithers.....Merry Christmas....all plans built?.....is yours one of the planes flying? Bruce

  • ronald zielke

Hi Joe   Did you ever figure out a solution for the center pin in the Viking spring replacement and how it hits the motor mount?  I remember you were trying something with a cable.

  • ronald zielke

    Thanks Joe
I finally mounted my motor and had a concrete block for extra weight and then adjusted the rod and cut off the excess then I got on the prop end and bounced up and down and it would just barely hit the motor mount.  Before I fly I'm going to just do away with it.  Thanks again Joe

  • ronald zielke

Hi joe  Thanks for the up date I'm really pleased for you and how well your mod is working out.  I knew that what we had devised would have to be better than what zenith had come up with, and by know mean am knocking zen but I'll bet it won't be long before they quietly change that system.  I certainly wish I to were flying my 40 off, I'm just know am wiring my plane and am hoping to move it to the local airport in August late, and fly by 1st or second week in September.  My birthday is on the 8th that would be the best present ever.

  • Kelvin Carson

Hi Joe its Kelvin from Australia met you at Oshkosh 2016 just wondering how your Engine is going and if any problems with your gearbox. Just about to install 912is sport but have seen local flying school with gearbox premature wear not sure if pilot management is the problem. how many hours on yours now? And your buddies planes as well how are they proforming?
  • Vance Lucas

     Hi Joe

Yes that was me over Vulcan this morning, that is pretty much the end of my 25 mile test area. I finished today's flight with 18 hours on it with no major snags. If the weather holds I should have my 25 hours flown off next week end then I will be free to make some longer flights and land at some different airports.

    Cheers,

    Vance

  • ronald zielke

Hi Joe  just seen your aircraft on  Zenith site.  Man it really looks sharp, lot's of work though.  I'm moving mine to the airport next Tuesday.  we decided to paint it olive drab to kind-of look like the old l-4's,my sons suggestion,  but it does look nice.

  • Jon Croke

    Joe,

Looking forward to seeing you and the plane again!

Good morning, Joe. We survived the crash box delivery; Seb & Co. were great. My build is coming along. I'm working on the wings. I decided to chromate the insides. The vehicle may live in Florida. The whole project moves forward in fits and starts for odd reasons. But I'm having fun. I hope you're enjoying yourself. -- rick
