    Hi Tom,

Thanks for adding me as a friend. I was going to go through and find out who was around Salt Lake but you beat me to it! :)  how is your 701 flying?

  • Bill Carter

    Tom,

    Welcome to the family.

I wish you the all the best with your project.

If you ever get the chance to visit the Zenith factory please take the time to stop by our builder assist facility too. We like to have visitors here and we are right here in Mexico, Mo. just a couple of miles from them.

    Take care and good luck,

    Bill Carter

Thanks Tom for the info on the hangers.

I really like your instrument panel. It's clean and simple.

Hi Tom - you'd asked about the color on my panel - I used rattle can "Appliance Epoxy" white.  Of course it's not a true epoxy, but it's adhered better than any other paint I'd tried.  I bought it at Home Depot, but I don't recall the brand name.  FWIW, I'd also tried the same paint in black on another part of my airplane, but didn't have as good of luck with that.

Good looking CH701 you have there. The hangars look good as well...what size are they? Could they have enough hieght for your CH701 on floats?
  • Victor Menkal

Thanx for the compliment Tom. Very nice looking 701 and one of the nicest panels Ive seen.     When are you starting your 750?
  • Victor Menkal

Hey, thats great news and must be exciting.

I had actually completed 50% of a 701 before switching to the 750.     I took advantage of the super low Euro and bought the Rotax 912ULS 2.      IMHO, still nothing close in power plants, especially for torque and altitude performance, except, of course the 914 which would be spectaculor.   Now if I just had a few more $$$ ....

Finally found hanger space and can hang the engine and wings so hope to be up soon.

    Cheers

    Hi Tom.

Lovely 701 - and lots of room to fly it in.  I think I'll have a bit more of a chore finding open area for test flying in North Jersey.  But hey, challenges make it all the more worthwhile.

    Best,

    Joe

Heath can't even see the line he has crossed.  I suspect many more than you and I do - they are just reluctant to admit it.

    Thanks Tom,

I guess my wife has reason to want me to wait until I complete the HOUSE we've been building, "pay-as-we-go" since June 1992. It is about 98% done, but several things should be done before starting an other project.

Most wives would have been in divorce court before two years passed! She really has been very supportive, and even is not objecting to my building the plane, just not yet.... (Incentive to hurry completing the house.) I also need her cooperation so I can eat her fine cooking while working on the plane.

I will have to complete another project to raise money for the rest of the kit. I have a VINTAGE MINI-EXCAVATOR that needs restoration. It was very essential in the construction of our house and in my business in the 1980's. Unbenown to me it is one of only 106 ever made during the one year production, and the MODEL for all other mini-excavators made since. MINI"S did not become popular for over 20 years later. I hope it will provide funds to make a really nice CH750.

    Tom,
Thanks for the comments. With all the light sport aircraft, I beleve the 912s is the best choice overall. The lightest weight for the HP avalable, a long and proven TBO, no cooing problems, swing a larger prop through a gear box to enhance STOL performance. And STOL is what the CH Zenith planes are about. The Rotax will run on even if you have a complete electrical failure in the planes electrical system. This would not be true for the fuel injected systems coming out on some of the newer engines. There are at least five other 912s being used at this airport, a couple on Kolbs that are at least 10 years old, none have had any problems.Oh yes,the best fuel burn of all for the HP.
On initial build,a little pluming, and sinking the carbs, but really not that much trouble. Anyway my two cents worth.
