Any ideas on holding the doors up with using gas struts or suction cups?
Tags:
I was thinking rare earth magnets might do the trick.
Stainless hatch springs from sailboats / yatch shop. Straight spring holds door ope....tap spring in center and it folds in half to close door. KISS principal.
Hi Bob, what size or length of stainless spring did you use? Thanks, Don
I used the suction cups that came with the 701 kit. I ended up replacing them for 2 reasons. First, the door would fall down with a loud bang after a few minutes, especially in cold weather, and second, the suction cups were starting to leave an abrasion mark on the doors. I ordered the gas strut kit from Zenith, and they work like a charm. Took a little aircraft plastic window polish and polished out the scuff marks, everything's fine now.
I have the first generation doors and the gas structs seem to twist the door. Seem to have to much force on window frame. Iam taking them off. Looking for something else. Maybe an RV door catch.
