Considering a 701 in Navada. looking to get it into Michigan. Anyone suggestions for transportation or shipping?

If it is built and flyable, fly it home. Taking it apart and trucking or trailering it invites problems. It would be a long trip in a 701 but a great way to get to know your plane. A friend and I bought a Cessna 175 that was in Washington state and we live in NH. It was a wonderful adventure to fly acros the continent in our new to us six decade old plane. His earlier plane, a Cessna 150 from Atlanta, we also flew home to NH. That was also a fun trip even if we did break down for a day along the way.

If it is not flyable, you need to borrow or rent an appropriate trailer or truck and pack carefully. That method will require at least wing removal and perhaps additional dissembly.

They can be transported on a trailer or in a truck with the wings removed, though you may want to tip it back to reduce the overall height depending on what truck or trailer you use. People I've seen do that just put blocks under the nose gear, though I can't find a picture of that right now. You won't need to do that if your trailer is low enough. I hear snowmobile trailers work great for this. People with the folding wing option transport it that way all the time. You just put the wings in padded cradles instead of having them folded back if you don't have the folding wing option.

If you're transporting in an enclosed truck, you should defuel to the maximum extent possible. It can be difficult sometimes to get every bit of fuel out, and if memory serves you may never get all of it out. I also recall someone saying the tip of the wings should be forward on the trailer to minimize water getting into the wings if it rains while you tow.

Thank you for the input. Would love to fly it back but looks like cross boarder transportation is out. Boarders are closed down for the foreseeable future.

Shipping seems to be the only option for now. Anyone use a shipping service?

Oh, I thought you meant Nevada. What borders are closed? That may not last long. Maybe you could wait a bit.

Checked with both borders. Currently not allowing travel. Wings and control surfaces are removed. Hoping to find someone with a empty load. 

He lives in Windsor, Canada-believe it's in Ontario. Last I heard, there was chit chat to  evaluate any Provincial openngsXL,  i or not = July 15. I have transported 701, 601 XL,,Rans S6S,etc.   others. If you obtain a shipping quote, , let me know -in the event I could be competitive. e mail =Maverick_4003@yahoo.com  BT W, FWIW, as others chime in, 1 trip  3 yrs. ago, from Reno  E. = high Mt. passes, I-80 elev., you  need a Turbo Diesel pickup to pull 24' gooseneck,..... + .Leaving SLC, a  long, high grade % pass all the way up to Park City, I-80.All Semi's pulled over, overheated.
