The 801, or the 750 super duty.

Thanks Daniel!
Is the reason useful load or other?

The reason is mainly useful load, but also performance.  I don't think you are likely to see a lot of difference in performance between 750 STOL and 750 Cruiser on amphibs.  The useful load will be limited, and I suspect you would end up limiting your fuel weight significantly if you want to bring a passenger, or leaving the passenger if your destination requires full fuel.  The airplane will be operating closer to MTOW, and performance will be less optimal.

David Beaulieu did a very nice write up on his 750 on floats, which is worth reading here:  http://www.zenith.aero/group/floats/forum/topics/2019-summer-status...

If you have the option to choose, I think an 801 or 750SD will perform better, and allow you to carry more on the amphibs.  Of course, everything is a trade-off.  More fuel burn, etc.....

Keep in mind, that I am still building my amphibs for my 801, so no first-hand report.  I hope to have them going this summer and will do a write up when I have the data.

Thanks Daniel, good info. The useful load will probably not affect me very much as  my intentions are to fly local lakes only, most of the times I’ll be alone and if not I’ll manage the fuel quantity.

You’ve answered my question, nice to know there won’t be much performance difference between the STOL and the Cruzer.

Thanks for letting me know about David Beaulieu write up, I’ll check it out.

Mission definition comes first.  Sounds like you have a good plan.  I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
