My wet compass is off about 15 degrees. The steel tube frame is magnetic.

Anyone had or solved this problem?

The wet compass is off from the Dynon 15 degrees.

The Dynon's magnetometer is installed behind the baggage compartment.

The compass reads correct away from the airframe, but moves in error when placed near the frame work.

I have had some luck degaussing in the past by separating the two wires in an AC load (angle grinder or skilsaw) and wrapping one of the wires around the part. I will probably try this before installing the windshield.

Solved the problem. Made a de-gaussing coil.

Here:

Compass error fixed

opened the end of a small de-mag bought from aircraft spruce and ran it along all the tubing until the compass read true, then performed compass swing and all good.

Call a local TV repair shop and see if you can borrow a picture tube degaussing coil and go over the tubes with it.

Steven Van Eljken,

You mention you "opened the end of a small de-mag bought from Aircraft Spruce". Are you talking about their little $4 unit that magnetizes & demagnetizes screwdrivers?
