Hi,

Anyone fitted the crazed pilot strobes landing light etc with the controller controller ,wiring of the position lights are straight forward but I must be missing something as the installation diagram shows only a 12 v feed into the 2/3/4 ports on the green connector with a ground to no.1

Any help appreciated

Numbers 1-4 are your inputs, this is your power source and ground. The 4-8 is wired to your lights. I had this years ago on an ultralight. Hope that helps.

Hi ,Michael,

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my appeal for help in this matter.

Does this help (click the image for full size)? The controller only gets power when you select a light mode, so there is no separate, independent power connection to it.

Hi Bob,

Thank you very much indeed for sending me the diagram of the set up, I take it that the strobes/landings can be earthed locally but I am unsure of the location of the positive wire on these leds

No, the LEDs cannot be earthed or grounded locally. CRAZEDpilot specifically warns against doing that, or they won't work. Only the controller (pin 1) can be grounded locally. The negative leads on the LEDs must be connected to the appropriate pins on the controller, because they're returns, not grounds. The explanation for that can get a bit complex, but suffice it to say the LEDs are not being operated by a simple voltage being turned on and off, so a typical ground won't work. I'm not fully versed with CRAZEDpilot hardware, but I suspect they're being controlled with a PWM signal. That's a common method for controlling LEDs.

For the three CRAZEDpilot LED versions I'm aware of, the black wire on the LEDs should be the negative leads. So, pins 6 and 8 on the controller should be physically wired to the black leads on the LEDs.

Here's a better diagram:

I also suggest using shielded wires for the runs to the LEDs.

Many thanks Bob for taking the time to reply again with a great explanation of the system and I will certainly take your advice on using the shielded wiring.

Best Regards
