Are cross over exhaust systems worth the additional money? Looking at the cross over for my 0-235 and they are easily twice the cost of a simple exhaust system

I've run crossovers on 180 horse motors. I wasn't a good flight tester then so never did actually measure the results. At that time all the serious acro guys were running x-overs...now I think it's mostly 4 into one typr setups. I built up a set of 2 into 1 for each side of a Lyc 180 and lucked up and got it just wrong; cut the climb from 1500 fpm to 1000-1100. I didn't expect that. So went to the xovers and got all that back plus some. I understand the hesitancy; yeh they're expensive. I'd wanta compare the weight too; that would be big for me.
Didn't answer your question, but some history that's maybe helpful
I have pretty much made up my mind to go with the crossover set up. I am writing on a quote from Dawley in Burlington WI. So for they are ll quoting around 1500 to 1800 for a complete set up with cabin and carb heat with tail pipes. My main concern now is that they fit under my 601 cowl. For those prices I expect everything to be perfect
I ordered the cross over exhaust system with carb heat/ cabin heat & tail pipes from Aircraft Spruce for my 601 0-235 engine. They had the best price, but a 4 to 5 week waiting period. They said it was designed for the 601.
