Hey guys,
I have a new Zenith Super Duty with the Dynon SkyView.
I have the 760 transceiver,
10 total hours on the plane and SkyView system.
The original 760 transceiver failed at 6 hours,
Dynon sent a replacement,
That replacement failed after 3 hours.
New plane, new Rami antenna, new coax built by Aircraft spruce.
SWR check is perfect.
Installing the first (original) and second transceiver they both worked perfect until they didn't,
The most recent ground checks normal, we're flying it tomorrow for the first time with this third transceiver.
Have any of you had a 760 failure ??
Is there a 760 issue out there ??
How can I have two failures in 10 hours ??
Thx
Gregg

I don't know the answer, but on my second airplane build the only thing that did not work as expected was the Dynon radio. I'm sensing a pattern ...

Hmmmm
I too am thinking there’s an issue.
DYNON says no.

I've been active on the Dynon forum for quite a few years. Problems of this sort are usually reported there, as you did today for this issue. But I don't recall seeing anyone ever reporting a problem like this before, so I'd have to agree with Dynon that this isn't anything recurrent or systemic. But maybe you're starting a new trend.

Just my luck.

Third transceiver failed within 15 minutes,

Time to look at my plane.

Ill keep you posted.

Hey guys,

Update,

I first want to say Dynon has been excellent with their warranty, support and overall availability.

It was time to get into my wiring,

FYI I took pages of meticulous notes to refer back to as I discussed this issue with Dynon.

First think I did was contact Dynon and confirm I had the correct prints, and up to date revisions, I did.

I checked pin-out for the transceiver, inter com and comm head, no defects noted.

I checked every pin on the transceiver, intercom and comm head for voltage and ground then had a phone call with Dynon and we went thru every pin and confirmed my findings. No defects noted

I checked every pin on the transceiver, intercom and comm head for short to ground. No defects noted.

SWR check was under 2.

Dynon has a sister company TRIG, they sent me a certified TRIG T-25 transceiver which is plug and play with the Dynon SkyView system.

5 hours later the radio works perfect, excellent clarity and range.

Ill keep you guys posted if anything crops up.

Gregg

Why did they send you a Trig and not a 760? Have they given up on the 760?

I don’t know why
DYNON made no comment,
They just sent it out.
I installed it and it works.

Does it have all of the same features as the 760? Is this a temporary solution, or do you expect them to send you a functional 760 in the future?

It’s plug-in play, as far as I know all the same features, it’s the same radio, however it is certified.

Okay, thanks. I was not aware that it's the same radio.
