Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
We lost a gas cap on the 601 I use for training. Don't ask.
It is one of the new flush type with little handle that locks it down.
No problem, both zenair and AS carry new ones and in a few days we had one.
Installed and for the next couple of flights that tank would not feed.
I did a flow check, all good.
Turns out the new cap was not adjusted so it made a tight seal and
the amount of "suction" off the top of the wing was enough to overcome the vent and not allow fuel to gravity flow to the header.
Adjusting the tension on the cap so the o ring contacted the flange
properly fixed the problem.
I'm never to old to learn another new trick.

Are you sure we can't ask? Kinda takes the fun out of things.
They seem to have a way of coming out of adjustment over time as well.
I use silicone spray on them occasionally and check the tension. Always inspect fit and o ring at condition inspection. Or of those small things that can cause big problems if not operating properly.
I was just teasing you, man.
