In the Corvair world what have others used for fuel filters? I'm approaching inspection and first flight and plan to use a Summit Racing 40 micron in-line filter. How will this affect fuel flow. I'm building a Cruzer gravity fed system.
Your thought appreciated,

David,
I'm building a 650 and going to put a Corvair in it. I am going to use the Andair GAS375-M gascolator. It has a 70 micron filter already in it. It will be mounted on the engine side of the firewall just before the fuel pumps that I will need to have. This "kills two birds with one stone", gascolator and inline fuel filter in one device.
This is also what WW suggests in his 'Engine Installation Manual' for the 650 and the 750. The difference between you and I would be the fuel pumps verses gravity feed. Andair gascolator will work with both.
Pressure drop at 10 GPH is only 0.08 PSI according to Andair's documentation

Keep all the low pressure aluminum / metal fuel gizmo's out of the engine compartment for your health :)
I kind of prefer the fuel related gizmos to be ahead of the firewall, myself. The more potential fuel leaks (and therefor potential fuel fires) are confined to the other side of a firewall from where my body is, the better. For the same reason I prefer the fuel pump(s) to be ahead of the firewall so that there is no fuel under pressure in the cockpit. On a high wing plane that does not work (gravity flow from wing tanks is a form of low pressure fuel) but it works well for low wing planes.
My two cents, for what it's worth.
