I am leaning toward using panel mounted fuses for my 701 build based on simplicity, weight, and cost but all the holders require a D shaped mounting hole and the tools I can find to make said holes cost so much it all but negates the cost savings over using breakers.   Any ideas?

Thanks

Jim

It seems like a good idea to have fuses accessible in flight, but, in fifteen years of flying my 701 I’ve never had a fuse blow.

if one did blow in flight I probably wouldn’t replace it until I’d landed and figured out what the problem was.

I have a simple fuse block with automotive type fuses mounted on cockpit side of firewall.

Best of luck.

Thanks Don, I’ll look around there.

Shay I’ll be a day VFR flier only and that’s the kind of feedback that gives me confidence in moving forward with a fuse solution.

I’m thinking since any fuse panel should identify each fuse, and Aircraft Engravers can cut D shaped holes, I’m going to drill round holes In my panel and use the engraved overlay from AE to both prevent the fuse holder from rotating and identify what system the fuse protects.
